Hi All,

Just looking for some advice as I’m lactose free. I have tried mass gainers in the past, but have been told they contain high levels of lactose.

I’ve decided to try WPI and dextrose in my post workout out shakes to try and add muscle and weight. Is this a viable option.

Thanks
James

Collagen protein powder seems best option . Lots of plant based options if you digest them- bit of trial & error. Same with Casein but some people find it worse than lactose

Same here .. I can actually tolerate WPI whereas others I know who are also lactose intolerant can't take it and go for the plant based protein powders. Dextrose is a good combo I take that as well sometimes. It can aid in recovery and indirectly support muscle gain through glycogen replenishment but it's no magic bullet.

I’m lactose intolerant, and have found WPI with Zymil Low Fat milk works pretty well and don’t get the bloating, though I’m not the greatest at being totally dairy free, so pretty used to dealing with stomach issues, and find bloating to be the worst to deal with. Another options would be to have some lacteeze tablets before having whey will help as it breaks down the lactose for you. As for plant based, haven’t tried any powder, but found Protein bars pretty crap to eat.
