8 Week Comp - CBH

So after being in a deficit for the past two weeks, the scales still read 102.8kg. I think this is because I’ve been away and working out a lot.

Last night I had my first pin of Reta, at 0.5mg let’s see how it goes. Planning on weekly pins.

One of the side effects of Reta is constipation, I’ve had to back off my fish oil supps for bowel movements being too loose, so this may be an easy solution to both problems.

I’m now 1 week into my Test-e having my third pin this morning (can’t say I notice the difference yet)

Gym this morning:

Warmup
30 sec x two rounds:
ERG (fan bike & assault runner)
Glute bridges
Body weight walking lunges
Dead bug
Side plank

Deadlift:
90kg x3
110kg x3
120kg x3
130kg x3
140kg x1 (probably not even a complete rep)
140kg x0 (didn’t even go above my knees)
130kg x1 (no gas left after the 140 attempts)

Superset x4 rounds
RDL 60kg x12
Walking lunges 2x 15kg dumbbells
30sec plank

Superset x2 rounds
8kg wall ball x15
Pair 17.5kg DB dead’s x12
Pull-ups x10 (band assisted)

So seeking some advice, this morning I had my second pin of Test-e.
My first was last Thursday which was 75mg as I was initially aiming for 150mg per week at a try dose from advice here. After some other advice I upped it to 100mg today for my second pin.
That was 18 hours ago.
When will I notice it working?
When will I notice any effect?
I know test-e is slow acting so am I just being impatient?
If you're running a cycle I'd say do at least 250mg a week for 8 to 12 weeks.

Sorry this is Fridays post, I got to hit the post button 🤦‍♂️
Today’s workout, took the wife to Boxercise again…

Warmup:
Hill run, 340m up and down x3 in 8 minutes
Total of just over 1km (****ing cardio!)

Boxing bag sprints:
3min jabs
3min upper cuts
3min something else but sweat in my eyes and my arms were just flailing around at this stage

Combination bag punches:
1min on 20sec off for 3 rounds each combination
3 different sets of combinations which really tested my coordination.

Repeat above with Pads.

Didn’t get a chance to post yesterday’s nutrition due to an early post.

Yesterday I did go over, but smashed the protein so I’m not feeling bad about going over with the amount of dead’s I did. IMG_1219.jpegIMG_1220.jpeg

Bad weekend for protein and clean eating, but rounds off a good week, I think my calories are down only because I haven’t really felt like eating so the first pin of Reta is helpful, but I’ve still had some sugar cravings. Overall it was a good week with definitely an increase in overall protein.

The Reta isn’t as strong as I expected but possibly due to being on Mounjaro for 9 months and off for 2 months before switching to Reta. I was planning on being on 0.5mg for two weeks but I’m thinking I may need a higher dose, I will see how I go the next couple of days to decide if I go up a notch a week early.

I can say that coming off Mounjaro, it’s pretty normal for Reta to feel a bit underwhelming at the start since your body’s already used to that pathway. The appetite suppression usually builds over time rather than hitting straight away.

You actually started at a sensible dose so I’d just let it run a bit longer before changing anything. Give it a few more days, then reassess and if hunger and cravings are still high and sides are low then a small bump makes sense. Just keep in mind Reta can take a couple of weeks to really show its full effect.

That’s some really sensible advice, thank you

Mondays gym felt a bit lazy, maybe the tests were too long, or the weights too light, hardly got a sweat up.

10min mobility 1min ea 2 rounds:
Worlds greatest stretch
Deep squat with thoracic rotation
Band pull apart
Glute bridges
Dead hang

Lat pull down
50kg x 10 x 4 sets

Seated cable row
50kg x 10 x 4 sets

Superset
Face pulls x 20
Tri rope pull down x15
25kg, 3 sets

Arnold curls 12.5kg
3 sets of 12

Still made me hungry though, went a bit high today in calories but still smashed protein. My watch was flat for the gym so didn't catch any of the workout.

Tuesdays workout and macros:

30sec each x 2 rounds
ERG (ski & row)
Push ups
W to Y raises

30sec each x 2 rounds
Wall Y slides
Ext rotations
Pec stretch

30sec each x 2 rounds
Scap push ups
Banded face pulls

Bench press (form focus)
5x 60kg
5x 70kg
5x 75kg 3 sets
I focused on form here as my shoulder felt like it was catching

Superset x 5
Incline DB press 20kg db’s
Bent over row 30kg
My back/sciatica were pinging every time I bent over for the rows, so I didn’t want to go heavier.

4 sets of Kettle bell swings 8kg x12
Trying to get some movement into my hips.

Cardio to finish:
8cal sprints on bike, rower, ski, bike no rest.

I’ve got an old back injury and my shoulder has been playing up so I booked in for a remedial massage this afternoon which included cupping and dry needling. I felt worse after I left but that was muscle fatigue, she worked me hard, defo no happy ending today 😂

Food wise, after a hard workout and the massage I felt I was craving protein all day, so I had too much whey and it pushed me well over.

No gym today, still tender after massage yesterday. Went for a swim at the beach instead, is is starting to get colder already. I was planning on doing some mild cardio after but enjoyed the cold plunge too much and ran out of time.
My macros were out today and it was a lesson learnt. I had some left over roast beef and gravy and decided to make a pie out of it using our pie maker. It tasted amazing but when I logged the food, I didn’t even stop to think that the puff pastry is made from lots of butter.

Although this type of log may bore most, I find it beneficial to share as it makes me keep honest to myself.
