Log for Monday 17th Nov

1st session I about a week due to copping a mad facial injury a week or so ago at a punk show in Newy. Turned out to be a fractured cheek and will require surgery, yay 🙃

Thankfully a lot of the swelling has gone down, still quite painful but.

Upper Body sesh went well. Few funny looks rocking a mad black eye but haha.

Strength still good. Pin 100mg Test E from @gearmaniac101 today.

2nd pin due on Thursday.
SHit man, have you had surgery yet?

Log for Monday 15th December

1st session in what feels like 3-4 weeks.

I had facial surgery 2 weeks ago today (after sitting in hospital for 6 days) and have been recovering ever since.

Recovery has gone surprisingly well, but I thought it best to heed the doctors orders and allow at least 2 weeks post surgery before attempting to train.

Just hit some chest and shoulders today. Didn’t track lifts or weight, was more of an instinctive-feeler session more than anything. But damn it felt good to be back in the gym and get some blood flowing again.

Took a couple of the young blokes with me, my 6yr old can’t wait until he can hit the gym like Dad 🥹

For the meantime in still cruising on 200mg/week Test E from @gearmaniac101.

2 x 100mg pins M/T

Will continue to feel things out for another week or so than start tracking lifts etc again.

Beast mode comeback 💪 Listen to your body and keep that blood flowing. Feels like the pump hits different after a layof. Your little one is already getting inspired haha. Keep cruising on the Test and slowly build up the numbers again, you’ll smash it!

2nd day back in the gym. Just hit the little local gym for a bit of a Pull session.

Found it hard to hold back haha, still trained with some reasonable intensity but remaining conscious of my injury as well.

All in all a good sesh. Taking the opportunity to try a few different exercises and narrow down the selection for next cycle 🫶🏼

Enjoyed this seated row. Nice stretch at the bottom and solid contraction at the top, driving the chest into the pad. ☺️

3rd day back in the gym. Hit some chest, shoulders and bi’s.

Legit not avoiding legs, well sort of, I just don’t want to put soo much pressure into my head/face just yet, especially holding my breath for hack squats etc.

Keeping the weight lower than usual and just getting the feel for it again. Form was great and pump was unreal. Was satisfied with the session.

Diet has been really good. Still sticking to the basic staples and not deviating much at all. So far so good. Does help that the Mrs is trying to tighten things up a bit too, so there’s less shit food in the house to potentially tempt me haha.

Love me peanut butter on rice cakes. Tasty little snack

4th day back in the gym, and it’s been a pretty successful week tbh. Today’s session was Back & Triceps..

Trying to narrow down the exercise selection, and ensure I’m picking the right exercises for overall development.

I always struggled with lat pulldowns, I could just never engage the lats properly and probably lent back too much, turning it more into a row. Been watching a few clips and tried altering my form and pleased to say I actually felt it where I should haha. No crazy weight obviously but I think I’ll keep this one in the mix.

Probs take it easy for another week or so over Xmas then start tracking lifts/progress again in the New Year.

Saw something similar to this setup online. Was a bit awkward setting up but the stretch and ROM was unreal. Overhead Tricep Extension

Nice to have a little blood flow happening 🥰

5th day back in the gym post surgery.

Diet has been controlled and keeping me feeling good.

Back in the gym strength is slowly coming back. Not pushing myself 100% just yet.

Trained with a mate today, just hit some chest and shoulders.

Started off with some LISS cardio. 10mins on treadmill, Incline 12 @ 5km/hr

Incline Smith Bench
Started off with 2-3 warm up sets.
2 x working sets @ 70kg, falling into the 6-8 rep range.

Standing Cable X/Fly
2 x sets of 10-12 @ 23kg per side. Used to struggle with form on this one and always felt it more in the front delts. Think I’ve finally getting it down now.

Flat Machine Press
Had to use this one due to equipment availability. By this time my chest was fairly smoked so dropped the weight a bit and just focused on nice deep stretches.
2 x 8-10 around the 50kg mark.

Lateral Raise
Kept the weight reasonable with these. Focus on posture, keeping shoulders pinned back and not engaging traps at the top.
3 x 10-12 superset with upright BB row

Rear Delt Fly
Lighter weight with these and slightly higher reps.
3 x 12-15 at 8kg. Defs felt the burn towards the end

Log for Tuesday 23rd December (Xmas Eve Eve)

6th day back in the gym post surgery..

Lowered calories slightly throughout the day, mainly from carbs, as I had some drinks and bbq planned for the afternoon.

Squeezed in an arm session after work.

Standing Overhead Tricep Extension
Did this one previously seated, sorta just testing the waters with same movement but standing. Overall was very much the same, probably got better stretch at bottom on standing variation.
2 x Warm up sets
3 x 10-12 reps around 45kg

IMG_8862.jpeg

Rope Pushdown
2 x 8-10 reps. Think weight was around 29kg, tri’s were already pumped from extensions.

Finished off with some cable kickbacks. Lighter weight around 9kg, just repped it out.

Bicep Cable Curl
Ez bar attachment.
2 warm up sets.
2 x working sets failing in the 8-10 rep range. Alternated grip from close to wide, definitely prefer closer grip with elbows in front of body.

Seated DB Curls
2 x 10 @ 8kg. Sounds like baby weight but these felt really good and controlled.
Sat backwards on the lat pulldown and used the knee/leg guard thing to rest Tricep against and get a more controlled movement. Highly rate 10/10

IMG_8864.jpeg

Finished off with some DB Hammer Preacher Curls.
These felt awesome.
2 x 12 @ 12.5kg

Pinned 100mg Test E from @gearmaniac101

Countdown till next cycle is on! 👌🏼

Log for Wednesday 24th December

7th day back in the gym post surgery..

Xmas Eve! Knocked off work early and managed to squeeze a Back & Calf session at the local gym before commencing the family Xmas Eve festivities.

Started with Seated Machine Row.
Opted for a neutral grip this time just to feel the difference. Still unsure how I feel about it lol.
2-3 warm up sets.
2 x working sets at 57kg. Good stretch at the bottom and contraction at the top. Definitely feel more stable with the chest supported aspect of the machine.

Lat Pull Down.
I have been annoying this recently. Change of form by dropping shoulders and keeping lats engaged the whole time without exaggerating the stretch at the top has been beneficial.
2 x working sets 6-8 at 47kg.

Finished with some seated low rows (close grip).
Back was pretty cooked by now. Dropped the weight and focused on the contraction at the top. No crazy weight was only around 30kg but was a good finisher.

Seated Calf Raise.
3 x 8 @ 40kg. Focus on stretch at the bottom.

Standing Calf Raise
3 x 8 @ 67kg. Tried keeping my toes pointing slightly inwards for these.

Looks all good. Smart way to get a session in without doing anything crazy this early back. Focusing on feel over weight is exactly what you should be doing right now 👌
