Approved Log My Training Log - Another old man trying to live life as a young man

That would’ve hurt 😬 poor bloke, hopefully he’s learned his lesson. Sounds like you’re still keeping things ticking over. Once you’re back in full routine everything will fall back into place.

Thanks @crackers, frustrating how life can often get in the way with training. Never had to worry about half the things when I was younger.

Yeah still feeling sorry for him, I'd better watch out next time I spar with him :ROFLMAO:

It’s starting to feel like one of those days where everything keeps going wrong. All little things but bloody annoying.

Started today when I went to inject, went a bit slower than normal as was 4:40 am, needle went straight through the skin then bumped and stopped at the muscle. Obviously a compounded effect of a blunt needle and going slower. But stupidly rather than taking it out and using a new needle I just pushed harder. Made it a bit sore for a few hours.

Off to MMA sparring, really good session. No sprains, didn’t take any hard hits, no injuries. Still taking time to get used to these MMA gloves. I sort of feel naked in them compared to traditional 16oz gloves. And of course the additional shock when you’re punched in the face with them.

I’m still aching loads from MMA and have decided to up my test from 150 to 200 to see if it’s a noticeable difference in recovery time. Hopefully I’ll at least get a placebo effect for a bit. Guess it’s my age now where these aches are normal life.

So today was the day I was supposed to get my ass into gear and start smashing out my training properly. I had planned a 2hr full body workout. But half way through my phone rang and my kid was ill at school so had to finish up quickly.

Watched the video on the raw shortages this morning. Better get an order in with @ozsteroids soon to protect against a possible draught. Fingers crossed.

Anyway sorry for the rant just felt good writing it down.

Thanks @hubbles. I was hydrated well the day before had about 2L in the morning before test. Really thought that’d be enough. First time testing after training so I know not to do that again. I had hoped my HCT would have gone back down to 52. I’m not bothered by it at the moment as I don’t have any issues which could cause platelet disfunction or clotting. It was more a test to see if it would help bring my blood pressure down. My last ABMP 24hr test was 124 and I’m on 40mg of Telmisartan. Interestingly I changed from Lisinopril which did absolutely nothing. In fairness I don’t think Telmisartan is doing much either as my morning and pre sleep blood pressure still sits between 130-140. Multiple drs say it’s the 24hr average which is important. But I am concerned as I get older it’ll get worse. I’m training 3x a week for weight training and 3-4x weeks mma/bjj/Muay Thai. And do parkruns on Saturday. I’m sure I’m getting enough cardio in. Drs don’t want to do anything more as they say my blood pressure is good. Took third Dr to prescribe me anything as the others were of the thinking that anything under 140 is fine. I still use the Telmisartan mostly for the other benefits such as LVH mitigation and visceral fat. Yep anyway need to do what you say and before changing dose back up get enough test ensuring I’m fully hydrated. I’m naturally high end with HCT a test from 10 years pre trt showed me at 51.
Yeah that all lines up brother. Some guys are genetically high on HCT so that 51 pre TRT shows it’s baseline for you. Just keep an eye on ferritin, viscosity and hydration and only look at donating if you’re symptomatic or if it keeps trending up.

I'm completely against donating just for the sake of numbers, like you say unless you are symptomatic there is absolute no reason to. Had this debate with my TRT clinic as they said I'm at risk of clots. They fail to understand that higher HCT doesn't cause or increase chance of clotting, platelet dysfunction does. Sad all this still goes back to data from the 70s on PV patients where correlation isn't causation. Interestingly the other amusing part is when my HCT hit 53 they told me to drink 3L before my test at 8:30am, I said to them what's the point as that's not my normal hydration at that time in the morning. They were completed fixated by arbitiary numbers.

Will make sure I don't train on the next bloods and reasonably hydrated to see what the actual values are.

Happy Friday all.

No training this morning, so lie in to 0615 when the kids got up.

Injection day and back at 200mg a week. Have been alternating the last few injections with backfilling a second insulin syringe after drawing to see if I can feel any difference. Still not sure. Followed by my typical double banana and oat shake.

Had a great session, no rushing, empty gym, couldn’t ask for more.

Third time on this hack squat, still find it demoralising.

Back at work now eating my two crumbed chicken breasts and mash potato.

Then off to do my water safety assistant training tomorrow to volunteer at nippers. Starting to get difficult juggling all the family activities.

Anyway have a great weekend all.
