Whilst I know this forum is about building muscle and at 72yo I have been training nearly everyday in the gym.

In the last few weeks I have become "stale" and "tired" unmotivated as the saying goes, and a number of things have gotten me down including new type of members joining who complain about someone sweating too much or even using the machine next to them..or tradmill....or you just started a set on a machine someone comes up and wants to use it "how long do you have they ask"etc as you just started your set

So I started ju jitsu , you can't do it at 72 said my son from his office sitting with his big belly hanging over ,your too old !

2 weeks nearly everyday after doing it and I can assure you it's much much harder than lifting weights.
Apart from that the friendship and camaraderie is there , I love it
I won't stop my gym weights but I'm enjoying this much much more than the gym !
Maybe I just got bored

Don't let that shit get you down at all. This happens at alot of gyms where I've seen people nearly get into punch ups for machines. Then you get the ****heads who leave their bottle on one machine and a towel on another and just hog everything. Unfortunately there are alot of different types of people we deal with man. Your doing great by looking after yourself and keeping fit. I wouldn't let the small things like that get to you.

Jiu-jitsu is an absolute great sport, I've been doing it for years.

How about the ones that just sit on the machines, texting away, barely breaking a sweat. They really rub me the wrong way. Don’t even get me started on those who stand right next to you practically breathing down your neck waiting for you to finish your set.

At one stage I started going at odd hours when it's quieter. But honestly I'm just sick and tired of always working around people who don’t get it. It’s like the gym has become a social club rather than a place to train hard. Rant finished 😂

But huge respect to you for sticking with your training and starting something new at 72. Your son might not get it, but you’re proving him wrong every day. It's clear you’ve found something that gets you fired up again. Sometimes a change is all we need to reignite that fire.

You’re an inspiration to this 64 year old man who is starting anew from a very long break. To be doing what you’re doing is awesome.

Mate problem is many people so called gym boys do not know FUK all about anything and many of them do not know how to work their way around a gym
