Very new to this. What got me here is a motorcycle accident August 2024. Broke my femur badly and multiple facial fractures. Spent 6 weeks in hospital. Weights is part of my rehab but I’m doing extra on my own. I go to the gym five days a week. Day 1 Chest/triceps, day 2 back/biceps day 3 shoulders and day 4 is light legs/physio with an exercise physiologist. Then I start the routine again. I am just doing basic compound moves nothing fancy as it’s a small gym. Before this I was drinking alot and not looking after myself. The accident was a wake up call in some ways. I lost a lot of weight with my facial injury not being able to eat much bar hospital purée. Still have a slightly broken femur am still doing physio and light weights as part of the physio. Upper body is way stronger than when I started lifting 6 months ago. Have regained about 8 kilograms since January when I could start eating normally again. I also went on ostarine for 5 weeks but had to stop early as I have to have another operation to get screws out of my broken leg next week. I can’t wait till I can get in the squat rack and build my legs up. The broken leg is still smaller than the good leg. I don’t think I’ll be able to squat until feb March 2026. Yes my leg was broken badly. It now has a titanium nail thru the femur bone. I weighh about 80kgs my appetite has gone thru the roof since I began lifting. Also have protein shakes and was on creatine but it was hard to drink enough water. Didn’t really like it. I was thinking of asking my doctor for steroids to help build up my legs when the time comes. I don’t know how he’d react to this ? I am enjoying going to the gym you feel amazing after you get all pumped up you can’t beat it. I’ve noticed small gains in my shoulders and arms and it makes you want to go more and more. I would like to get on something at some point. Probably when I’m back to normal and no longer in any pain what so ever. If you ride a motorbike think long and hard about how you ride and assume every car is going to cut you off. Because one will eventually….

Welcome aboard. Your dr isn't going to prescribe you steroids.

Keep up with training, get your diet sorted. Get a blood panel from Roidtest (REACHER code for 20% off).

Then post the results here. You may have great test levels and not need anything as gym newbie to make good gains if you eat properly.

Thanks, I have noticed good strength gains and slight size changes in my upper body. The biggest changes have been the veins starting to be visible on my biceps forearms and shoulder region. Love it !!!

Just thought you may not be able to squat for a while but what about leg extensions and leg curls?
I won’t be squatting for another 6 months I reckon. I am doing leg extensions, leg curls and that adductor machine. Doing squats up and down out of a seat with zero weight. Using bands and things like that. I am really weak in the legs and hips. But I’m noticing strength increases each week. The only thing stopping me is this damn broken femur is taking ages. I’m doing all I can I just have to soldier on and look after myself.

Welcome bro and good to see you pushing through 👊

I ain't no Dr but can tell you that femur’s the main limiter right now andno amount of gears gonna rush bone healing and you don’t want to mess with recovery. Keep hammering the rehab stuff and ask your physio about BFR training so you can get more out of light weights. Stick with a slight calorie surplus and say around 180g protein a day you’ll keep seeing those strength and size gains in the meantime. When the legs ready, then think about loading it heavier and in time the size will come back.
