Good Supplements?

I'm trying to figure out what supplements to run and would love to see some sort of mega thread that separates out supplements into these lists:
  1. Scientifically tested and proven good supplements (when and why to take them)
  2. "Bro Science" supplements nobody should ever take (links to articles as proof)
Unfortunately, I don't have enough knowledge to undertake such an endeavour. However, it would be great to see more experienced people collaborate to create a master sticky.

Good Supplements (why take)
Multivitamin (essential)
Omega fatty acids (tons of reasons)
Creatine (anyone who wants muscle mass)
5-HTP (appetite suppressant/anxiety/Sleep aid)
Vitamin D3 (keto diet/zero natural sunlight)
B Vitamins (if on keto diet)
Calcium (if on keto diet)

"Bro Science" NEVER TAKE Supplements

Sometimes, people use the term "Bro Science" negatively which can be frustrating. Scientific studies can always be manipulated for specific results and may not always apply to us. "Bro Science" refers to learning through experimentation and personal experience... thats my definition lol... Although there may be no scientific proof, it can still be effective. Bro Science is about taking the initiative to learn through trial and error. Criticising "Bro Science" undermines the efforts of those who have experimented and shared their knowledge before us. Thats my 2 cents

My essentials are:
Multi, EFAs, creatine, HMB, and protein with BCAAs.

I saw surprising results with HMB and I also take microlactin occasionally after leg day; it's great for doms.

I swear by creatine monohydrate – been taking 5g a day. Fish oil is my go-to for joint health 1000mg daily. Vitamin D is a must. I've also been adding beta-alanine to the mix for extra endurance, 3g a day. Maybe its overkill but I also take glucosamine and chondroitin on top of my fish oils for the joint support,. ALSO magnesium – been taking 400mg daily for better sleep and muscle relaxation. I steer clear of those flashy pre-workouts, stick to the basics like a coffee and a banana lol

For me I take:

Fish oils
Vitamins
BCAAs
Protein
Creatine
Sometimes a carb drink
Fat burners
Test boosters during a PCT (along with clomid+nolva)
Pre workouts

Creatine is scientifically proven to be beneficial to muscle growth.

BCAAs are very debatable depending on the evidence presented. Although many people say the data doesn't support the claims.

Protein, Fish oils, and vitamins are pretty well accepted.

Fat burners boost metabolism (not by a ton but they do)

Pre workouts boost energy.

Mines similar... I take support supps year round, liver + cardiovascular + kidney.

Other than that
Protein
Greens
Multi
Fish oil
Pre-workouts here and there
Protein bars
Bcaa's

L-leucine is a known mtor up regulator and insulin sensitiZer plus can improve mitochondrial efficiency.

Taurine is great for a lot of things health and hydration wise but can also increase muscle density, contraction strength, and overall muscle strength.

Forskolin 95% clinically proven anti-catabolic fat burner

Arachidonic acid - more studies then needed to discuss. My favourite OTC supplement for strength, recomp, etc

Primavie - increases ATP, mitochondrial biogenesis and activity, and has been shown to make oligospermic men fertile

The list goes on bruv...

I take similar to above.
Protein
BCAA’s
Creatine
Beta alanine
Glutamine ( doctors use it on burns patients and post surgery now, I took it after my triceps tendon repair, but have used it for years )
Vitamins ( c, b complex, extra b3 as it’s been shown to prevent skin cancer, I work in the sun and have had a few removed.)
Zinc
Magnesium
Evening primrose oil
Fish oil
AAKG
And as an older athlete I take collagen.
I think that’s about it, I do agree with Hmb also, used it years ago, but lately it’s been out of stock in our local stores for some reason.

Night warrior needs bcaas added and eaa..it would be the ultimate warrior

Yeah only if it has the whole bcaa chain in it,like 11 or 13 of them, one won't work without all of them.most pre workout have just 3 and they can metabolises without the whole chain of them.thats why I say they are shit, the way the supp companies only use a few which is pointless.

in my non expert opinion I think it honestly differs between each person for what supplements are proven or more needed. Gear protocol often requires particular supplements.

standard supplements that I call no brainer supps would be

- Protein powder
- creatine monohydrate
- fish oil
- magnesium

Then moving more into things like

- D3 - those of us who spend a lot of time indoors
- ubiquinol - organ health and recovery
- vitamin k2 - avoid blood clotting and also increases bone strength.
- tumeric or curcumin - fatigued muscle management

And lastly

TELMISARTAN !!!! BP is important.

I’m no doctor but these are some supplements I believe in when living this lifestyle.

These were my results...
AST (Aspartate Aminotransferase): 62 U/L (Reference range: 5 - 35 U/L)
ALT (Alanine Aminotransferase): 55 U/L (Reference range: 5 - 40 U/L)

These look like mild elevations, nothing to stress about but you should do something about it. You should take some supplements to combat this and maybe take it easy on the orals untill you do another test. You don't want these to get any higher.

I've always liked Carusos Liver Detox.
