First Cycle (Thinking about it)

Hey guys,

Been researching for the last year and my mind and body is now starting seriously thinking about jumping with Test E

About me
Age: 37
Height: 175cm
Weight: 71kgs
***: M
BF %: 19% roughly
Race: East Asian (don't know if that matters)

Gym routine
Been working out for 5 years or so
90% of the time - 4-5 days a week: typical push, pull days, usually targeting two different groups such as chest/arms, legs, shoulders/back. Sometimes switching it up, chest/shoulders, etc......
- Currently doing 3 sets of 8-10 reps to failure, sometimes adding in a last super set to get those extra reps in
- Switch it up every 3-4 weeks doing max 6 reps then back to 8-10
- Cardio - 30 minutes each gym sesh, except leg day, I added in cardio in the last 5~ months due to recomp diet

Diet
I will admit, my diet was TRASH first 3 years of going to the gym and was completely trash before starting gym. I was def. skinny fat, I had a PT at first 8 months of starting out but I never was educated on nutrition, even when I asked about food, he just said blank statements like "eat high protein foods like yogurt etc"...... But thing is, I was very uneducated on nutrition and I was so blind on what were my personal goals and nutrition were. I would go home after the gym and just eat whatever I want, not weighing food or keeping track of macros and I didn't even think about macros. I didn't even think what my goal was like recomp? Bulk? Maintenance? All I wanted was just to get fit......

Being a newbie at the gym at the time, I had the 'newbie gains', weight coming down, strength up and this made me so delusional that what was I eating was working... and I am so mad at myself thinking this for years and years......

Since April 2025 I have been on a recomp diet, which is working, I am on roughly 1800 calories per day, minimum 150g protein per day. Went from 23%~ to 19%~ BF, I have maintain majority of my muscle strength, depending on the exercise, I am either lifting the same weight or tad higher, and depends if I am fatigued or not.

I rate my diet prob a solid 7/10. Not the best but it's not the worst either, I don't eat take out, don't eat like shit like before and try to eat clean and I do count my macros. Processed snacks will be like a protein bar, sneak in my fav donut here and there but ultimately, I am reaching my macros.

Supplements:
2 scoops of WPI + water
2 x fish oil triple strength pills
2 x multivitamin pills
5g creatine
1 x magnesium pill

Sleep:
Not the best, this has been going on since I was a teenager which no doctor can fix. I wake up at least 7+ times per night, this is clock work for me. Wake up, go to sleep 5-10 minutes after. Doctors have given me heavily sleeping pills, while that somewhat worked, my body would wake up though such heavy sleep, I would wake up so damn drowsy where my body couldn't really move and I wonder to myself, how the hell did I wake up from that state?.....

magnesium has helped a bit but I don't think I'll ever wake up less than 3 times a night :(

Total sleep per night: ranging from 7-9, keep in mind I wake up multiple times so don't know if that drastically will affect me.

Blood test:
Results as of 9 July 2025:
Total Test: 15.7 nmol/l
SHBG: 18 nmol/l
Free Test: 428.1 pmol/l

I did a test in Sept 2024 but that wasn't comprehensive, my total test was 10.5 and I don't know how my test increased cause I feel exactly the same. I didn't request anything else from the doctor, I was simply interested in my total test at that time.

Why am I thinking about test e?
- I have plateaued at the gym, been doing around the same weights for the last year, I kept a log.
- I am usually damn tired, fatigued everyday. I am really demotivated to work.
- *** drive took a massive hit
- Improve at the gym

I understand test e/trt is long term so I have to mentally prepare for it. Not looking to stack anytime soon, but to go slow and steady and see how I feel.

If I am wrong with anything, please correct me and I am happy to be educated and happy to take advice from those experienced.

Additional info:
- I don't smoke anything (weed, vape, cigs)
- I rarely drink (prob once every 5 months in an event like a birthday)
- I am not on any ongoing medication
- No known family history with bad health, diseases, cancer etc.....

I reckon you got a decent base. 19% body fat and 71kg, jumping on Test E now.. I don't think you need to. You're not in a bad spot, but you're not in a prime one either. Gear will enhance what you're already doing. Won't fix things like sleep, fatigue or training.

Your bloods look okay.l free test is good, SHBG is low which actually increases your free T availability. So the issue likely isn’t low testosterone it’s sleep, recovery and possibly under eating or stress. Waking up multiple times per night kills doesn't help.

With your diet.. 1800 cals and 150g protein is a bit tight for someone trying to grow. Push that to 2200+ cals minimum with 200g protein and just monitor weight/gym weekly.

6 months of consisten quality training, good sleep and tracked food is what you need. If by then you’re still feeling flat and making zero progress then you could consider a low dose TRT.

Don’t rush it bro. Once you start you’re probably in for the long run and right now I don't think you maxed out your natural potential yet.
