You picked the right car... absolute unicornI'd love an F40 but would prefer something more drivable.
It'd have to be a 1994 911 Turbo S, last of the aircooled, about 180 S made, 1400 non S.
I was looking to buy one of these about 20 years ago for £35k, went and saw a few but was holding out for one with a black interior and not grey or tan. Moved to Australia spent the savings on me and my wife not working for 6 months, diving trips and travelling, then rent/ deposit, health insurance etc. Got a job and six months later thought I'd look to buy one again. Found out they were $150-200k over here so never happened.
I told this story to someone about 10 years ago and they were about $600k at the time, just looked now and the last one in Australia sold late 2021 for $1m, now worth about $2.5m.
Most stupid decision ever, not buying the one I saw as it had a tan interior.

This brings back memories, my Dad and I were in the process of building a barn so we could build a Caterham R400 superlight. He died before the barn was finished. Miss the days of having loads of disposable income. However my weekend toy was also a dream and goal before I brought it

Price is crazy
I hear you bro. It's annoying. I have a whole list of cars that I'd want but will never happen cause of all the things you mentioned.@ozzyboy Wish I had the money. Our car prices are screwed out here. I looked the other day to bring an Escort Cosworth over, UK price £62k.
Ended up at $180k to bring it over, plus the cost of any conversions, e.g. dash.
Car +$4000 shipping +$1500 insurance +5% customs +GST +Luxury car tax 33% for everything over $80k,
My friend in the UK had one for sale, and I saw one sell over here last week for $200k. I was deadset to buy it knowing the UK costs, until I worked out the cost to bring it over. Even my wife was ok letting me add it to the mortgage.
Essentially there was about $44k of cost to bring it over.
My parents were build one on retirement. Sadly mum didnt make it to this ageThis brings back memories, my Dad and I were in the process of building a barn so we could build a Caterham R400 superlight. He died before the barn was finished. Miss the days of having loads of disposable income.
