I was going to say "when you don't have the energy....or the "motivation "to complete your planned workout

You know those days you turn up at the gym ,have your pre-workout but the energy is just not there,

I watch social media some opinions that say just to go home!
, G o light others say or to work through it.

I had the same today ,got onto treadmill first for light walking just to warm up , I felt my body not responding with the 'high energy " it usually has.

I thought "I'm going to work through it" and complete my planned workout albeit lighter weights .

It was a hard grind , sweating more ,more pain , wasn't easy ,hardly any strength but I kept it up

Now many say give it up if your not feeling it ,you could be injured.

I wonder what causes these types of days ?
Less sleep the night before? Etc

How about you ,what's your feedback when you don't have the energy ,do you work through it ?
Go home ? Work lighter ? Or just push yourself hard ?

I’ve had days were I felt like that , I just started anyway , and for some reason ended up doing one of my best workouts .
Other option …… sit on your ass at home and argue with the wife

Mate if I walk in to the gym and it just don't feel right I leave and return strong another day, my gym is across road, this morning was not good I left did a few things went back later, I that happens for a reason, very important to be in touch with ur body and mind, they work together, if one or both day nope I just go home simple

For me it has always been diet. Every now and then I go through a lazy period and I may eat Macca's for bfast, KFC for lunch , pizza for dinner etc...... the next day is a write off. I struggle to complete my sets , some of the dirtiest reps ever come out on those days. The differance between my normal diet and those " fat man " days, I feel them big time under the iron. Lethargic, lazy, it's a struggle. Maybe have a look at what you had to eat over the previous 48 hours. I usually do what I can although if it falls on leg day for example, I'm absoloutley doing arms that day

For me it depends on how that not having the energy feels. If I just don't have motivation or I'm not feeling it I'll just take a few extra warm up sets and get into it.
If I'm feeling the lack of energy in my body and I don't have a reason for it (poor sleep, diet etc...) then it's usually a sign I'm due for a deload. If I have a reason like my diet sucked the day before or lack of sleep I usually just push through and might just regulate my set/rep scheme for that day

I never feel like it most days at the moment, but I blast Metallica or something on the way to the gym and talk myself into it. I never have a bad workout, some are better than others. Once I get in the gym I switch off to everything going on, especially the “music” that sounds like a never ending bus crash, and all the fat **** Sheila’s on the tv’s shaking their butts in g strings all over the screens. I think to have a good workout, you need to be able to switch off, and then get inside your own head and talk yourself into smashing the workout. No phones, no talking, I even printed a t shirt that says “**** off I’m training”

Ur correct mate, phones r a huge problem which catches me out often, and today I could not focus cause my focus was on this female with an ass on her like it could melt iced mountains 🏔️

Bit of a different situation but I often travel with work and have to adjust to new time zones. It generally wreaks havoc with my sleep cycle in the first few days and I feel lethargic and low energy.

For me, I need to push through those initial workouts and it helps get my circadium rhythm back on track and my enery levels rebuild. Then I need to do the same when I'm coming back home.

I used to dislike travelling for work as it intefered with my recovery but I shifted perspective and realised that I get exposed to lots of different gyms and people.
